The SPLGBTQI+ Project is dedicated to strengthening community resilience and promoting mental health among transgender and LGBTQI+ individuals. Through inclusive public events and safe spaces, the program fosters visibility, solidarity, education, and suicide prevention.
Below are examples of events and initiatives under this program:
Purpose: To honour transgender individuals who have lost their lives to violence or suicide.
Activities: Candlelight vigils, storytelling by community members, art exhibitions, and workshops on transgender rights and mental health.
Impact: Creates a space for remembrance, healing, and awareness—reducing stigma while promoting resilience and wellness.
Purpose: To empower LGBTQI+ individuals with safety and confidence.
Activities: Practical self-defence training, role-play simulations, safety strategy discussions, and legal rights awareness.
Impact: Builds resilience, reduces vulnerability to violence and harassment, and supports mental health.
Purpose: To celebrate diversity and create platforms for visibility and acceptance.
Activities: Parade marches, performances, art shows, concerts, food stalls, resource booths, and panel discussions.
Impact: Reduces isolation, builds community pride, and strengthens protective factors against suicide through collective solidarity.
Purpose: To provide safe and supportive spaces for peer connection.
Activities: Group meetings, themed discussions, guest talks, and social activities like movie nights and games.
Impact: Fosters belonging, reduces loneliness, and creates networks of mutual care and encouragement.
The SPLGBTQI+ Program is more than events—it is a movement for visibility, healing, and empowerment. Partners are encouraged to design additional activities that advance these goals.
